HoneyBook is an app that keeps track of clients, made for people who run their own creative business. It handles the first message from a client, quotes, contracts and invoices. Since July 2026 it has client galleries too. It has been around a long time and is very polished. It costs a flat $29 to $109 a month. bckendIQ does the same client steps, then keeps going. A confirmed booking becomes a crew job. The app tracks who worked the shoot, checks their work, and works out what each person is owed. If you do every shoot alone, HoneyBook is the better buy. If you hire second shooters, helpers or editors, HoneyBook stops right where your problem starts.

When to choose HoneyBook
You work alone, or with one regular partner. You want the most polished client experience you can get. Paying people is a job for your accountant. HoneyBook has had ten years to smooth every edge. It has a far bigger community. And at $29 a month, its starting plan is very hard to beat on price.
When to choose bckendIQ
You hire people for each shoot. The question that eats a weekend every month is not "did the client sign?". It is "who worked which day, did they turn up, was the work good, and what do I owe them?"

Common questions
Does HoneyBook pay second shooters?
No. Every payment tool in HoneyBook moves money from your client to you. It has no way to pay a second shooter, helper or editor. It has no crew list to pay them from.
Is bckendIQ more expensive than HoneyBook?
bckendIQ starts at $39 a month. HoneyBook runs $29 to $109, with unlimited team members on Premium. But the sticker price is only half of it. HoneyBook takes 2.7% + 10¢ of every payment your clients make to you. We take nothing, because you connect your own Stripe account. Say your clients pay you $120,000 a year. That is $3,240 to them and $0 to us. So from the first dollar, our Studio plan costs a studio less in total than HoneyBook Premium. Maybe you only need the client side, and take few payments through the app. Then HoneyBook is a polished app and a simple choice.
Can I use both?
Yes, and some studios should. Keep HoneyBook for your clients. Use bckendIQ for crew planning, clock-in and pay. You do not have to move your client side over to start using the crew side.
Does bckendIQ actually send money to my crew?
Not yet. bckendIQ works out exactly what each person is owed, from checked hours and their review. It locks the amount to the cent and makes a payslip. You then pay them the way you already do, and mark it paid. Sending the money from inside the app is planned. It is not built yet.
