What is the best studio software for photographers who hire crew?
If you hire second shooters, helpers or editors, ask what the app does after the shoot. HoneyBook, Studio Ninja, ShootQ and Pixifi all handle client work well. None of them track crew hours or work out what crew are owed. Production Slate and Rentman handle crew, but have no client side. bckendIQ does both. That is the reason to pick it. It is also why it costs more than an app that does only one half.
Which studio software actually pays second shooters?
Very few. Wrapbook sends real payments and serves small productions. Production Slate records crew payroll entries. Most photo studio apps, HoneyBook included, only move money from clients to you. bckendIQ works out what each crew member is owed, locks it, and makes a payslip. It does not send the money itself.
Is bckendIQ a HoneyBook alternative?
Yes. It covers the same client steps: asking, quotes, contracts, invoices and galleries. So it can replace HoneyBook. If you work alone, it is a poor trade. HoneyBook is older and cheaper to start. If you hire crew, it is a clear win. HoneyBook has no crew side at any price.
