Record who actually worked the shoot
Crew clock in and out per session on the shoot day. Each session records scheduled hours against actual hours for each person, so overtime is visible on the day rather than discovered at payment time. These recorded hours are what the payable is calculated from.
Sessions, not one long day
A shoot is split into sessions — preparation, ceremony, reception, or setup, principal, wrap. Hours are recorded against a session, which makes them checkable. A single figure for a whole day is one number nobody can verify.
Self-recorded times
Each crew member records their own start and end times and can see them. Self-recorded times that the person can check are disputed far less often than times written down by someone else.
Overtime is a decision, not a discovery
When a session overruns, the extra hours are granted as a recorded decision with a reason attached. Overtime agreed on set is a conversation; overtime found in a spreadsheet three weeks later is an argument.
