Help/Pay & payables

How a crew payable is calculated

The amount owed to each crew member is derived from the hours actually recorded on the shoot, the rate agreed for that engagement, and any overtime granted. Once resolved it is stored as an exact figure in whole cents and locked, so the number cannot drift afterwards. bckendIQ calculates and records the amount — it does not send the money.

Where the number comes from

The chain is: the slot the person claimed, the sessions they worked, the clock-in and clock-out times recorded against those sessions, any extra hours granted, and the agreed rate. Every step is visible, which is what makes the total defensible when somebody queries it.

Whole cents, locked

Amounts are held as integer cents rather than decimals, so rounding happens once and cannot accumulate. Once a payable is finalised for a pay period it is locked against change, and financial records are never hard-deleted.

bckendIQ does not move money

This is worth being plain about. The product produces the amount and the payslip; you pay by your own method — bank transfer, PayPal, whatever you already use — and mark the payout settled. There is no automated disbursement.

A note on withholding pay

Confirm that agreed deliverables arrived before settling. Withholding earned contractor pay pending a subjective quality review is a different matter and carries real legal risk in some jurisdictions — take advice from an employment lawyer where you operate.

Common questions

Does bckendIQ pay my crew directly?

No. It calculates exactly what each person is owed, locks the figure and issues a payslip. You make the payment through your existing method and record it as settled.

Does bckendIQ file 1099 forms?

No. Contractor tax filing is not built in. bckendIQ records what you paid each person, which is the information those filings need.
